Mission Statement
The mission of Oakland Ultimate (OAK) is to support the development of youth ultimate players in the Bay Area by providing opportunities to learn and play at a high level under a player-centered and team-focused approach.
In all of our programs, OAK emphasizes:
Spirit of the game and teamwork
Strong fundamentals and well-rounded skill sets
Helping players develop a growth mindset, leadership, and social and emotional intelligence
Year-round programming and long-term team development
Supporting the wider ultimate community in growing and diversifying the sport
Joy and love of the game
OUTCOMES:
While we largely measure our program’s success in intangibles–nurturing youth players into purposeful young adults with a lifelong love of ultimate–we expect a natural by-product of our approach to be successful, competitive teams. We love developing players who have versatile skill sets and can play in any system. We love offering the opportunity to have the cores of our tournament teams stay together and develop trust, camaraderie, and chemistry over many years, while also allowing the freedom for players to explore other teams and programs in the Bay Area.
We also work to foster a deep sense of community and belonging, not just for our players and coaches, but also for their families. Our program has been made immeasurably richer by the friendships that have developed among parents, guardians, and our extended frisbee family.
Note from the Board of Directors:
We take pride in providing a supportive environment where players can learn and develop their ultimate frisbee skills. As parents, we understand that it takes a community to help young adults grow both on and off the field, and we’re dedicated to supporting every player who wants to make the most of our program.
Thank you,
OAK Board of Directors
